common questions

  • I am located at The Sundry KC every Tuesday from 9 am - 7 pm.

The Sundry is located in a neighborhood located in the Waldo area of KCMO. Upon arriving, The Sundry is located at the back of the building strip and has designated parking spots labeled along the side. You can view a map of this on my “contact” page.

There is a wooden walking path that leads to our door. The market is closed on Tuesdays and the building is appointment only. The market door is on the left, the appointment door is on the right. Please note, there is not a waiting room, but there is one chair outside my office if you arrive early. If I do not greet you outside my door, I am with a client. Please wait quietly in the hallway- no noise - or in your car until your appointment time.

  • Appointments can be canceled or rescheduled 24 hours before and you will receive a refund. If I am not notified 24 hours before your appointment you may not be eligible for a refund. You can do this by going to your confirmation email you received when you booked the appointment.

If you are running late, you may still come to your appointment, but I may or may not be able to adjust for the time lost and we will end at the time appointed.

For virtual appointments, there are specific guidelines for running late provided in description of what you booked.

sound healing, reiki, guided meditations, energy clearings, other intuitive healing work

  • Sound healing is the use of instruments to activate the parasympathetic nervous system in the body; slowing down the breath, heart rate, and brainwaves. Sound healing has many benefits including but not limited to: reducing anxiety/stress, aiding with insomnia, lowering blood pressure, aiding with depression, spiritual connection, reducing physical pain, generally encouraging a relaxed nervous system. People have very different experiences during the sound such as: a dream-like state, falling asleep, going into a void/timeless space, memory recall, emotional states, and or a sense of deep connection. While sound healing is going to affect everyone differently, generally speaking people feel relaxed and reset after enjoying a session!

  • A sound bath is where we gather as a group to enjoy sound healing. It is very similar to a 1:1 experience, but less individualized. We begin with a meditation which leads into sound immersion. Afterwards we ground back in and some choose to chat with others about their experience. For sound baths we usually choose an intention to focus the group general energy on, but you still have your own private experience with that intention. In sound baths we are respectful of other’s space if one chooses to keep private, but it also can be really nice to share an experience like this with friends to chat about what it was like. It is really cool to be in a room surrounded by like-minded people who have showed up to heal their minds and bodies and reset- it creates a safe and relaxing atmosphere!

  • Everyone is affected by sound healing differently. There are many studies showing the positive effects it has on the mind and body. However, there are some complex medical conditions you may have that might effect your experience: insulin pumps, pace makers, etc. When scheduling a sound healing with me, we will go over any concerns you have. At the end of the day it is always best to ask your doctor if you have a specific concern. Before treatment with me you will be required to sign a liability waiver and answer a few questions regarding specifics for your session. There are some conditions that a client can have that may require me to avoid using sound directly on the body.

It is always best to check with your doctor if you are unsure. If they need to know what instruments I use, please reach out to me.

Please also be aware that sound healing, reiki, any energy practice, can bring up stored emotions. Whether it is intense trauma, PTSD, recent, or distant memories- all of these can be brought up during sessions. Please be aware of where you are at in your personal journey and if you are ready to dive into those emotions. If you are in therapy or counseling for dealing with currently activated trauma, I would recommend letting them know you are going to give sound/reiki a try just so they can be prepared to help you if something comes up.

If you would like more information about this particular topic of "is it safe for everyone", please read my blog post "what is sound healing, the basics". I go into much more depth.

  • For a 1:1 one-off session

When you arrive at my office we will go over any concerns brought up in your form, sign the waiver, and get going! You will be laying down for this session and we will begin with a guided meditation. From the meditation we will begin the sound healing, this includes many different instruments and can change depending on the client. I always use crystal bowls in the session, but the rest varies. Once the sound is over, I will guide you back down into your body and we will spend a few minutes grounding in, and recapping anything you wanted to talk about from your session.

    For a 1:1 session plan

This is very similar to the 1:1 one-off session, but for clients that see me consistently and are on a plan we keep track of goals and progress. These goals are formulated during your first session with me and we update your progress the beginning of each session. Depending on where you are at in your progress, the meditation and instruments used will change.

You may also add in reiki to your sound healing for no extra cost. You may want to do this if the goal for the session is focused on deep healing.

  • Reiki is a form of energy healing. The practitioner places their hands on or near the clients body at specific points to channel life-force energy through them to the client. It is used for stress reduction, healing, and relaxation.

  • Once the waiver is signed, and I have answered any questions we will begin. You will be lying down for the session and there will be calming music playing in the background as the energy work is going on. I blend sound and reiki together, so depending on what you need energetically that day will change the flow between the two. For the energy work I will be placing my hands either on you or hovering above you, whatever you are comfortable with. There are specific points on the body that I will be placing my hands on/by for the energy to travel through. At the end I will help you ground in, and you may share any experiences you had with me if you would like.

  • For any service I provide you will need to sign a liability waiver ( you will do this in person ). Once you sign it, you will not need to sign it again for any other service.

You will be prompted when you schedule your appointment to complete any information that is needed.

  • All energy and sound work can have an immediate effect, it can also be more gradual. Generally speaking people feel that their brain gets a “massage”, they lose feeling of their body during, and find a deep sense of peace within themselves. Energetic/Sound forms of healing can provide an incredible balance to the mind, body, and spirit and can create a deep sense of connection within and without. In both healing practices the physical and subtle body are effected as we are working with muscles and cells just as much as we are working with emotions and spiritual experiences. As we work through the chakras, energy can be moved, released, and healed- and that can effect people in all different ways as you move through your healing journey.

As I stated previously, everyone is different. People need energy moved in different ways, and just like having different muscle groups you can work at the gym, you might feel more sore one workout compared to another workout you did the same week. Energy works in a similar way. Frequency of the sessions can also effect how your body and mind react to the healing. For example, some clients that I see regularly for sound healing find that the more sessions the have the deeper connection they experience during the session, and the after effects on the body are more relaxing. Healing is not a straight line, there are ups and downs, and we work together to figure out what you need during that session.
